There will be a study class at Fort Blackmore Fire station, intersection of Veteran's Memorial HWY and Fire LN, on Tuesday, 31 Jan 06, 1800 hrs. Those interested in studying, come on down.

Firefighter I

The first two days of Firefighter I at GCVFD in Gate City, VA, went well. We had good weather to stay inside. We covered Introduction, Communication, Public Education, and Ventilation. We have three weeks off. We'll start back with PPE and SCBA. We'll have a short time in the classroom and then the fun starts. Be sure to bring your Personal Protective Equipment {helmet, eyewear, hood, jacket, trousers, boots, gloves} and an SCBA including PASS device. See you in February.

All Departments: consider this...

The Scott Co Horse Association would like us to think about hosting a horse show at the new ring in Dugannon. We can either host the show or host the concessions. If we host the show, we provide the manpower to run the gates, security, parking, etc. If we host the concessions, we'd be in charge of providing manpower, and possibly preparation. So, talk it up and see what you'd like to do. It's a money maker, and it's also great PR for the Association.

Think on it.

Creating Blog

Welcome to the Scott County Fire Departments Blog. We wish you to be free to contact us, make comments or suggestions, but keep them PG rated.

Our County of Scott is located in southwestern Virginia. There are seven Fire Departments located here: Duffield Fire & Rescue, Dungannon Fire, Gate City Fire, Hiltons Fire, Nickelsville Fire, Weber City Fire, and Fort Blackmore Fire Departments.

The Scott County Firefighters Association connects all the Departments into a collection that wishes to serve their county and their citizens.

The Association meets on the 1st Thursday of each month, at rotating stations. This month, in January 2006, the meeting was held at Fort Blackmore Fire Department. The February meeting will be at Duffield Fire & Rescue Station 1, located in Duffield, VA. The meeting will begin at 1930 hours. The public is invited.
