Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are always needed, no matter what their abilities or talents. Volunteer firefighters go through a 90 day period before they are voted on by the Board and general Firefighters. Training is provided through the Department towards Firefighter general knowledge, driver training and certification, first aid, CPR, AED, motor vehicle extrication basics, water supply, Engine/Tanker basic knowledge, and other topics.
Elections for 2017
Fort Blackmore Fire Department will conduct elections for Line Officers 2017. On Monday, December 12, 2016, at 1900 hrs, the Department will hold its annual elections and board meeting. All interested parties may attend.

The Fort Blackmore Fire Department conducted it's annual Fire Prevention Week program to Fort Blackmore Primary School. It started at 1:50pm, on 12 OCT 2016. The Program consised of :

Fire Prevention
Fort Blackmore Fire Department held its annual Fire Prevention Program for Fort Blackmore Primary School at 1:45pm on Wednesday, 12th of October, 2016.
The Department instructed the students in Evacuation of a Dwelling, Calling 9-1-1, Shaking Hands with a Firefighter in his full turn-outs, and a Truck Crawl-Through. The students seemed excited to be there, as were the Firefighters. The presentation ended at 2:30pm and allowed the students and faculty to continue their normal day.
Thank you to Ms. Meade and the Assistant Principal and Teachers, Faculty, and Staff for allowing us to share this important part of life with the students. We hope to be invited to do the same thing next year.

Candy Hand-Out on 31 October, 2016
The Fort Blackmore Fire Department will conduct a "Candy Hand-Out" on Monday, 31 October, 2016, from 4pm to 8pm. All kids are urged to come by and receive some candy. Also, thanks parents, for keeping the children and everyone safe during this evening of fun and adventure.
Devil's Bathtub: Multiple Searches Conducted
Fort Blackmore Fire Department, in conjunction with Duffield Fire and Rescue and the Air Ops Wings of VA State Police, conducted three search and rescue incidents. Those dates were: 06-07 September, 11 September, and 16 August, 2016. Our new Polaris 6x6 was used extensively on two of the searches. All lost subjects were returned to Command based at the first curve of RT 169 "High Knob Road", and were either transported to the hospital or returned to their kin.
